A big wave of immense gratitude – I have asked various people to be interviewed for my PhD, people I know and people I don’t, and more often than not they say yes!
People that sound very senior, people who are experts and have got loads of other things they could be doing and yet – still they say yes. Totally improbable, incredibly generously. Prepared to go on the adventure of the interview to explore and answer questions when there would be lots of reasons why they say no and don’t find the time.
Feeling incredibly emosh as the PhD pivots to more outward facing activities to have got such a positive response and wanting to honour that and them. Just goes to show how it can be worth asking, how often I’ve talked myself out of asking someone because I felt unsure, unworthy or shy and a reminder that it’s generally worth giving it a try if it is something you want.
I’m sure that it will get more tricky and there are people I’ll really want to interview and I get no reply, I’m also ready for the saying yes and not following through trickiness and all the rest. So perhaps it’s the honeymoon phase but still, if you can’t enjoy the honeymoon phase then really, what’s the point?
